The Society of Golf Historians
The Society of Golf Historians Is Entering a New Era

For years, The Society of Golf Historians has quietly built a devoted following—gathering those who revere the game’s past, celebrate its figures, and preserve its stories. What originally started as a passion project, the Society has become a big part of my life. And now, I think we’re ready to take the next step.
The Society is formalizing.
This moment marks the beginning of a new chapter, one where the Society evolves from an online community into a structured organization with a mission to elevate golf history, research, education, and storytelling on a global scale.
Here’s what this evolution entails:
A New Home Online
Our official website will serve as the Society’s digital clubhouse—your go-to destination for content, membership, events, and archives.
Membership Opportunities
We will soon launch an annual membership and lifetime membership options, providing members with access to exclusive benefits and helping support the mission of preserving golf’s legacy.
Private Newsletter & Podcast Access
Members will enjoy our weekly SOCIETY Newsletter, featuring original research, essays, interviews, and behind-the-scenes stories—plus premium access to special membership editions.

The TalkinGolf History Podcast
The podcast which has become one of the Top 20 most downloaded podcasts on the game of golf will continue to provide stories from our game’s past. Members will have the ability to attend some of our live recordings on location.

The first ever podcast dedicated to Golf’s History
Meetings & Events
We’re establishing an Annual Meeting (beginning in 2026 at Belleair Country Club) and launching Regional Gatherings to connect golf history enthusiasts face-to-face across the country and abroad.

Preserving & Promoting the Game’s Past
From awarding research grants to recognizing unsung contributors through golf history recognition awards, we are committed to honoring those who shaped the game and empowering those who choose to study it.
Experience History Firsthand
Planned historical golf outings and travel experiences will allow members to walk in the footsteps of champions and play the courses where history was made.
A Living Archive
The Society will maintain a historical archive, digitizing rare materials and curating collections that document the game’s evolution.
Auction Platform
Our auction platform will continue to grow—offering curated opportunities to support historical preservation through unique rounds of golf, memorabilia, and once-in-a-lifetime golf experiences.
Merchandise & Art
Expect the release of merchandise and original artwork that celebrates the heritage of the game—with proceeds supporting our mission.

Consulting & Education
We will offer consulting services for clubs and collectors and introduce a speaker series to engage the public on golf’s rich cultural history.
Storytelling
We aim to produce documentaries and long-form storytelling pieces that breathe new life into forgotten legends and defining moments in the sport.
The Society of Golf Historians isn’t just growing—it’s becoming a platform that ensures the game’s legacy will not only be remembered but revered.
Join us as we write the next chapter in golf’s greatest story.
